The last two episodes of TNT’s Dallas (previewed last year here and first reviewed here) are thematically consistent with the series, a bit implausible and a dramatic send-off until next season. Sickness, sisterhood and brotherhood dominate the final two installments in this rebooted series which is based on the original 1978 CBS prime-time soap opera. J.R. , Bobby and Sue Ellen Ewing still prevail as the newcomers continue to take root and grow with the exception of the two female characters who are weak, wispy and often out of sync with the rest of the show, especially Jordana Brewster as an emaciated waif whose main job seems to be to alternate between Ewing cousins. Christopher Ewing takes on John Ross Ewing, who forms an unlikely alliance, while Bobby’s wife Ann finds her own way of dealing with adversity and each person wrestles with their issues from power-lust and addiction to finding the good in a family that’s been bad on Southfork for generations. Look for plot twists and resolutions and lots of hitting, slapping, drilling and bonding as well as bits of Miss Ellie, Johnny Cash and the original Ewing Oil. Dallas airs on cable TV’s TNT on Wednesdays at 9 pm ET/8 pm CT.
